Louvre and Pyramid at night
Louvre and Pyramid at Night

Paris and the French Riviera. What a great combo for an unforgettable photography workshop starting with four nights in Nice followed by five nights in Paris, the City of Lights. All along the way incredible sites will be visited including the medieval town of Eze, Monaco, the Monet Gardens, St. Paul de Vence and more.

While in Nice we will take day trips to Eze / Monaco as well as to Gourdon / Loup Gorges / Tourrouttes. In Nice the main sights are a very popular street market, Old Town, Castle Hill, Mt. Boron and the Russian Cathedral. The highlight, by far, is the Cours Saleya market which explodes with a variety of colors from fresh produce, flowers, cheeses, herbs, and exudes with charm.

On our visit to Monaco, we will visit the Oceanographic Museum and Aquarium that was the base for Jacques Cousteau for many years. Several stops will show off the beautiful waters of the Côte d'Azur - the azure coast on our two day trips.

Several medeival villages perched high on hills overlooking the water will be viewed from various viewpoints to show off their unique setting. Walking the time streets highlights the details of the architecture and a feel for their lifestyle.

Included in the price of the trip will be the train ride from Nice to Paris. Once in Paris it's one memorable spot after another. Many of the sights we see during the day, we will revisit at night to capture the essence of the City of Lights.

When in Paris, we will take a 45-minutes train ride to the Monet Gardens in Giverny. The flower gardens here are unmatched by any anywhere else and is where the famed artist did quite a bit of his painting. We will have access to the gardens on our visit until 8 p.m., well after the normal closing time so we can have the place to ourselves with nice evening light.

In Paris, part of one day will be set aside for a visit to the Louvre. Who can go to Paris and not visit one of the most famous museums in the world? Photography is now allowed here but must be without flash or tripods. When we visit, we will set a time to meet outside so people can move around on their own and see the exhibits they prefer.

Three of the five nights will be spent doing night photography of the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Notre Dame Cathedral, Arc de Triomph and several other spots. We may even do a night cruise on the Seine River even though great photography is difficult.

During the day, these spots as well as Rue Cler, Le Marais, Luxembourg Gardens, Rodin Museum, the Opera House and Place des Vosges will be photographed in addition to several other wonderful sights. Street scenes of corner cafes are a must in a city that has one at just about every corner.

Come capture the essence of France from two very different perspectives for a trip you will remember for years to come.

For flight schedules, we will officially start with a dinner in Nice due to all of the different flight arrival times into Nice. Departures from Paris should be scheduled for the morning of the 20th.
